Firdaus Udwadia Wins Torrens Award

Firdaus Udwadia

In recognition of his service as editor for the American Society of Civil Engineers' Journal of Aerospace Engineering, AME professor Firdaus Udwadia has won the society's Richard R. Torrens Award for 2008.

From the ASCE's publications web page:

The Richard R. Torrens Award, begun in 1986, is given to an editor whose performance in this position is exemplary. Frequently, he or she has been responsible for significant growth in the quality and stature of a journal and often in the size or frequency of the publication. Recipients usually have an excellent record of timeliness in reviews.

To be eligible for consideration for the award, a candidate must have been editor of an ASCE journal for at least a year and a half and be editor of the entire journal (not simply a section of a journal, such as the Air Transport section of the transportation engineering journal). Coeditors are eligible. The editor must be editor of a periodic (not an aperiodic) journal.

Each year, the Executive Committee Chair of each institute, division, or council that has an editor eligible for the award is asked to recommend their editor for the award, if he or she believes the editor merits it.

Congratulations to Professor Udwadia!
