What is Pi Tau Sigma?

Pi Tau Sigma is a Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, instituted in order to establish a closer bond of fellowship among its members which will result in mutual benefit to those men and women in the study and in the profession of mechanical engineering.

Pi Tau Sigma's core values are:

  • Integrity (soundness of character and moral conduct)
  • Service (serving the mechanical engineering profession and the community)
  • Leadership (being foremost and fostering initiative through example in a professional manner).

Initiation luncheons are held at the conclusion of the spring semester of each school year. Students will be individually invited to this luncheon based on his or her cumulative GPA.

Eligibility (minimum cumulative GPA requirement)

  • Sophomores 3.50
  • Juniors 3.25
  • Seniors 3.00

The lifetime membership fee is $25 and students may be admitted as undergraduates or graduates. In addition, two or three professors are initiated as honorary members of PTS each year along with the initiated student members, so these luncheons are good networking opportunities.

For more information about the honor society, please visit www.pitausigma.net. All other questions regarding initiation and eligibility for the USC chapter should be directed to Eric Liu, President.
